After one of the instructors hanged a Black doll from a cord in a classroom, a heated incident between the two teachers at a Chicago high school occurred and is being examined.

The event occurred in front of pupils, and a photo of the incident went viral on social media.

After the apparent racist incident, the school day at Whitney Young Magnet High School finished with a special listening session on Wednesday.

“He [the teacher] definitely should have thought about it because that could be really sensitive, especially with it being an African American doll and something that could cause suicidal thoughts,” said high school sophomore William Schetz.

A teacher hanged a little plush African American football toy from a projection screen in their classroom with a pull-down thread, according to a letter from the school’s principal Joyce Kenner to parents. The instructor stated that he discovered the doll in his room and that he wanted the pupils to see whether it might be claimed.

When another instructor approached her about the dangling doll, the two allegedly fought.

Kenner stated that the inquiry into the event has been taken up by Chicago Public School officials, who have also dismissed the history instructor.

“I believe he should be removed from the school, and his teaching degree should be taken away,” said Michelle Donegan, a student’s parent.

According to a spokesman for the Chicago Teachers Union, policies in our schools that reduce the effects of racial prejudices must be continuous and persistent.

“He knows what lynching is. He knows what hanging the doll would represent,” Donegan said.
