A Teacher’s Video Sparks A Debate On Classroom Furnishing

Teachers are literally real-life superheroes because they have more tolerance than we could ever hope for, and they are in all honesty the reason why none of us dropped out of school.

However, this was what a kindergarten teacher discovered when she stepped into her brand-new classroom that was completely empty.  The content creator expressed her ‘frustration’ upon entering the space, which had no shelves, no cabinets, and just a few desks.

@progressivemama vented her annoyance on TikTok, writing: “So frustrated going into my classroom today. No shelves for a classroom library. The desks are weird for a Kindergarten class. No cabinets. No rug. No left over supplies or books. How much of my own money am I expected to spend?”  Moving her camera around the classroom to concentrate on what seemed to be empty cabinets was her next step.

Others in the field have had similar experiences, as you would expect.  One wrote: “Yup!! Thatโ€™s all you get. Desks, chairs, and textbooks. Thatโ€™s what people donโ€™t realize. We buy EVERYTHING!!” Another commenter raised an excellent point: “Comments saying that you had it worse are not helpful. The point is that we shouldnโ€™t have to supply or furnish our own classrooms. Itโ€™s not okay.”
