Arshad Ayub, a prominent educationist in Malaysia, died at 2:06 a.m. on Tuesday (June 14).
His family released a statement last Tuesday, after being taken to the ICU due to health issues, saying that his remains were still there.

Arshad, 93, was the first director of the Mara Institute of Technology (ITM), now known as UiTM, from 1967 to 1975, and served as its pro-chancellor. He had also been given the duties of deputy governor of Bank Negara, and he also served as deputy director-general of the Economic Planning Unit at the Prime Minister’s Department. Both of these positions are within the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department. Arshad also served as secretary-general of the ministries of primary industries, agriculture, and land and regional development. For many years, he served on the boards of various publicly traded firms and governmental organizations.
