A recent high school graduate from Florida has accomplished a remarkable feat: she has been admitted to every single Ivy League school.
Ashley Adirika, a 17-year-old high school senior, was admitted to the eight most renowned colleges and institutions in the country, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, and the University of Pennsylvania, according to CNN. On Ivy Day, when colleges disclose which students have been accepted, a Miami Beach Senior High School senior logged onto her computer and saw acceptance letters for all of her classmates, she told local media.
In an Instagram post dated 30 April, she disclosed her choice after much deliberation. “It’s official!” she wrote. “I’m so excited to call Harvard my home for the next four years.”
It was the support of her mother and brothers, who moved from Nigeria 30 years ago, that helped Adirika achieve her goals, Good Morning America stated. According to the news site, she accomplished this by making her imprint on her high school debate team and launching a mentorship initiative called Our Story, Our Worth.
CNN reports that Adirika aspires to study government at Harvard and then attend law school. “I am really passionate about policy and using policy to empower communities,” she told CNN. “And so in the short term, for me, that looks like becoming a lawyer. But in the long term, I want to use that as a platform to do work in policy.”
