The Yale Law School and the Harvard Law School have made the decision to withdraw from the rankings published by U.S. News & World Report Rankings.

The educational establishments disclosed in separate statements that, for a period of time, they had been giving serious consideration to withdrawing from the rankings list.

According to a statement made by Heather Gerken, dean of Yale Law School, U.S. News is entrusted with rating 192 law schools using just a narrow set of measures that are meant to match all schools, which cannot present an authentic image of such a wide variety of institutions.

According to what Gerken stated, “Its approach not only fails to advance the legal profession, but stands squarely in the way of progress.”

Gerken said that the decision was not taken lightly, but that it is time for Yale to pull away from the rankings in order to follow a path ahead to strive and strengthen legal education.
